Overview of the Events Module 

The Events module displays upcoming events as a list in chronological order or in a monthly or weekly calendar. Each event listing includes a title, description, and date. Display of an image and the event time is optional.

Each event can be set to automatically expire on a particular date, or re-occur by any specified number of days, weeks, months or years. Height and width properties for calendar cells can be set.

  1. Click the linked event title.
  2. Click the Edit link.
  3. Edit the event details.
  4. Click the Update link.

Setting an Event as Recurring 
Select Add Event from the Events module menu to add a new event, or edit an  existing event.

  1. Complete the Event Settings and Image Settings sections.
  2. Maximize maximize.gif the Recurring Settings section.
  3. At Recurrence End Date, click the Calendar events.gif button and select the last date when the event can reoccur.
  4. Select and set one of the following reoccurrence schedules:
    1. To set the event to reoccur periodically: 
      1. Select Periodic Event.
      2. At Repeated every, enter the frequency of the reoccurrence. Every 1 day is the default setting.
      3. Select either Day(s), Weeks(s), Month(s), or Year(s).
    2. To set the event to reoccur weekly: 
      1. Select Weekly Event.
      2. At Repeated every, enter the frequency of the reoccurrence. Every 1 week is the default setting.
      3. Check the check box for each of the day the event reoccurs.
    3. To set the event to reoccur once each month: 
      1. Select Monthly Event.
      2. At Repeated on select the week in which the event reoccurs in the month. Options are First, Second, Third, Fourth and Last. The default setting is First.
      3. Select the day of the month when the event reoccurs. The default setting is Sunday.
    4. To set the event to reoccur on a specific date of each month: 
      1. Select In Month.
      2. At Repeated on select the date when the event reoccurs.
      3. Enter the number to set the months in which the event reoccurs. E.g. Enter 1 for an event which reoccur each month, or 2 for an event which reoccur every second month.
    5. To set the event to reoccur annually: 
      1. Select Annual Event.
      2. At repeat on date, click the Calendar events.gif button and select the date.
  5. Click the Update link.

 

  1. Select Add Event from the module menu.
  2. In the Title text box, enter the event title as will be displayed in the module.
  3. At Start Date/Time, click the Calendar events.gif button and select the start date of the event, and then select a start time from the drop down box. This will automatically update the End Date/Time field to be the same date and the same time plus one time interval.
  4. At End Date/Time, click the Calendar events.gif button and select the end date of the event, and then select a start time from the drop down box.
  5. The following optional Event Settings are also available:
    1. At Time Zone, select a time zone for the event. The time zone of the person adding the event will be used by default. If the person adding the event is an unauthenticated user, the portal time zone will be used. Note: This field will only be editable if set accordingly on the Settings page.
    2. At Importance, select Low, Normal or High from the drop down box to set the importance of the event. Normal is the default setting.
    3. At Category, select the event category.
    4. At Location, select the event location.
    5. In the Notes text box, enter any notes on the event.
  6. To display an image for the event, complete the following:
    1. Maximize maximize.gif the Image Settings section.
    2. At Display Image?, check check.gif the Yes check box.
    3. At Link Type, select or enter the link to the image. See Common Tools > Link Control for more details.
    4. In the Width text box, enter a width in pixels if you want to override the original image width.
    5. In the Height text box, enter a width in pixels if you want to override the original image height.
  7. Click the Update link.
